10 Beauty life hacks that will change your life...

  1. Spike your concealer - Mix liquid highlighter with your under eye concealer to create your own brightening concealer. Two parts concealer to 1 part highlight. Adjust as preferred.
  2. Re purpose your mascara brush - Save the mascara wand from your pricier mascaras to maximise your cheaper formulas — i.e., a Benefit They're Real brush is plastic and easy to clean and reuse in your drugstore faves. It will really maximise that formula.
  3. Make liquid eyeliner - Mix eye drops with shadow to create a custom liquid liner. Dip a brush into some eye drops or mix together on your hand.
  4. Revive old eyeliner - Use eye drops to revive gel liners. Eye drops are sterile and safe for the eye area obviously so you're in the clear.
  5. Use bronzer as eye shadow - Use a bronzer as a transition color in your crease. I do it all the time and it's an awesome way to multitask and get your money's worth.
  6. Prevent smudged eyeliner - Draw eyeliner directly onto your brush to apply a soft, smudged line. This is quicker, softer and easier than lining and then smudging.
  7. Use face oil to revive makeup at the end of the day - Dip your wet beauty blender into moisturizer or facial oil to revive makeup and add glow. Concentrate on the highest points of your face, mainly cheekbones. You'll be highlighted san sparkle.
  8. Use concealer as eye primer instead of buying it - Use concealer on lids as an eye primer. Until eye primer really became a thing, I always did this. It cancels out any veins and discoloration and gives your shadow something to adhere to.
  9. Create the straightest eyeliner lines - Use a business card to create perfectly-angled winged liner. Angle a business card from the outer corner of your eye upwards and draw along it with your liner. Bam! Perfect line, every time.
  10. Make a lip scrub with what you already own - No need to spend $10 on a lip scrub when you can duplicate the effect by dipping your finger in olive oil, followed by white or brown sugar and scrubbing across lips. Follow with lip balm and your pout is perfected.

Best ways to revise

So we are coming up towards the end of the exam season which means come august if you've failed any subject you are going to be able to resit most of them in November so here are my top revision tips for exams.

Tip 4
    Tip 5
  1. Start revising early
  2. Don't spend ages making your notes look pretty— this is just wasting time. For diagrams, include all the details you need to learn, but don't try to produce a work of art. Limit yourself to 2 or 3 colours so you don't get carried away colouring things in.
  3. Take short breaks - every hour, not every 10 minutes.
  4. Use revision guides
  5. this will enable you to revise by osmosis. If you are going to do this , it's best not to learn anything until the night before the exam. Stick a revision guide under your pillow and when you wake the next day, you'll find the full contents of the book have been absorbed into your brain.
  6. During study leave, start revising early - i.e. 9 am — that way you'll get your day's work done much quicker and will have time to relax in the evening.
  7. Stick revision notes all around your house
  8. Get yourself drinks and snacks - so you don't make excuses to stop every 10 minutes...
  9. Try reading difficult bits in funny accents - french 'Bonjour Mr Shakespeare'
  10. Sit at a proper desk. Don't try to revise in bed — you'll be in the land of pink igloos and elephants before you can say "Captain Birdseye".

How to build the perfect smothie...

first you want to sweeten it in a healthy way you can do this by adding:

  •  Honey
  • Dates
  • Agave nectar
  • Yacon syrup – Coconut sugar
Fruit/Frozen Fruit
The fruit you use will play a big part in the flavor of your smoothie. Using frozen fruit instead of fresh is an easy way to add instant thickness to your smoothie.

– Bananas

– Mango
– Pineapple

 – melon

 – kiwi

 – apple

 – pear

 – peach

 – apricot
 – papaya

 – pomegranate
 – etc

liquid
The amount of liquid you use will help to determine how thick your smoothie will be.

– Water
– Milk
 – Milk Alternative (almond, hemp, coconut) – Coconut water

– Brewed tea or coffee (green tea, fruit tea, etc)
 – fruit juice

Protein Powder
The protein-powder category has exploded in the past few years. There's an option for almost every type of diet or lifestyle and a wide range of flavors too.

– Whey protein
– Casein protein
– Pea protein – Egg white protein
– Hemp protein

Leafy Greens
Most of us fall short on our daily vegetable intake. Smoothies are an easy (and tasty) way to sneak in some leafy greens.

– Kale
– Spinach
– Arugula
– Beet greens
– Dandelion greens

Thickener
Add a creamier, thicker consistency to your blend along with a boost of nutrition with these options.

– Avocado
– Protein powder
– Hemp seeds

Fresh Cucumber Roll-ups great for kids!!

Fresh Cucumber Roll-ups

What you’ll need:
  • 1 cucumber
  • a vegetable peeler
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup of matchstick carrots
  • a bell pepper (or two, if you want varied colors)
  • some optional herbs
how to make the cucumber roll-ups

  1. First, make sure to give your produce a good rinse and dry. Cut the cucumber into thin strips using a vegetable peeler. I recommend getting the thinnest cucumber because it will be easier to slice with the peeler in the center. But even if the cucumber you pick is too thick for the peeler to handle, just shimmy off what you can.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it out for a few hours until it’s about room temperature. Gently spread a thin layer of the cream cheese over each of the cucumber slices. It’s a little awkward to spread since the cucumber is wet and the cream cheese is slick, but just try and slather some on.
  3. slice half a bell pepper into thin matchsticks. I used a quarter each of a red and yellow bell pepper for extra color. You’re also welcome to cut your own matchstick carrots, but let’s be real – that is a hassle! Buying a bag is much easier, and I like having them on hand for salads and snacking
  4. Now place a mix of matchstick carrots and bell pepper sticks at one end of each cucumber slice. If desired, sprinkle some fresh herbs in there as well – dill or parsley work nicely. Once filled to your desired amount, roll. The cream cheese works nicely as a binder to keep everything together.
  5. Enjoy!!!!
